Renewable energy

Leaf and wood residues will be dewatered and then further combusted at the IWP plant to generate steam, which will then be fed into a steam turbine to produce electricity.

Western Power is but one company interested in acquiring more energy. Western Power has forecast growth in demand of some 700 megawatts over the next 10 years. Under the Kyoto Protocol (1990), of which Australia is a signatory, a portion of this must come from renewable energy sources. Biomass combustion has been identified by Western Power as one of the cheapest sources of renewable energy.
