A Brief Profile of Kansai Environmental Engineering Center Co., Ltd. (KANSO)

Established in Osaka in 1974, Kansai Environmental Engineering Center Co., Ltd. (KANSO) is a 100% subsidiary company of the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. KANSO has over 400 employees, mostly technical staff and researchers, including registered engineers and doctors. Currently, its sales revenue is about 9 billion Japanese yen.

The company provides a wide range of services over environment-related fields, including environmental impact assessment, greening design and implementation, JI/CDM-related feasibility study and oceanic carbon flux study. A variety of unique and competitive researches have been carried out also at the Biological Environmental Institute (BEI) of KANSO in Kyoto. The R&D activities at BEI cover symbiotic microorganism, tropical forest reforestation, charcoal utilization, remote sensing and also integration of its experience and expertise as a CFC (or Carbon sequestration by Forest and Charcoal) concept.
